For years, the two ambitious young men, each with a company called Neutrogena, would build the brand around the world, even as each plotted the downfall of the other in courts and countries near and far. Did one of them plot much, much more, and bring about the ultimate tragedy? The Beverly Hills police thought they knew what happened, a plot hatched in Belgium and carried out by a gunman flying half way around the world who then killed himself as the police drew near. The Los Angeles District Attorney though he knew what happened, Israeli mafia striking just months before their murders in a downtown luxury hotel. What really happened? The story has never been known, has never been told. Until now.

As a person intimately close to the three murder victims in this sad story, I approached reading Mr. Norgaard's book with heightened interest. Noah and Christopher were my students, and JoAnne was not only Noah's mother, but a good friend. I thought I had a pretty good picture of what happened that awful day, May 23, 1979. What this book brought to my understanding was as stark and raw a closeup of facts in evidence, perhaps marinated a bit in opinion, as viewing the Milky Way galaxy with one's own eyes and then looking at it through a telescope. My only small reservation stems from Mr. Norgaard's point of view as the attorney representing the "other side" in an international tug-of-war with Noah's dad, the late Lloyd Cotsen of Neutrogena fame. The author makes a compelling case that his client was not, as we had been advised by police reportage, the murderer. Had this story become a feature who-done-it, it would have two possible endings, with very different murderer(s). I am grateful for Mr. Norgaard's point of view, but much more for his bringing to light so many details otherwise buried under the sands of time.

Unfair CompetitionMurder by Gunshot Christopher Norgaard 9781492755555 Books Reviews
Extraordinary tale of two cities, Brussels and Beverly Hills. Difficult to believe it is a true story, giving the reader insight to business dealings on a product name which has endured and is known to all women. The story follows by twists and turns of an engaging mystery Highly recommended read on many thought levels.
This insightful, informative and skillfully written book reveals never before released facts concerning the "true crime" involving the Neutrogena empire. The author presents the reader with a tale of corporate intrigue, a complex relationship between "would be" business partners, murder and several unanswered questions. The book is well written, very interesting and provides insider information on a high profile, three decade old, cold-case. I have used Neutrogena products for years----I will never think about the product the same way again. An absolute must read for "true crime" enthusiasts!!!
I moved from Texas to Los Angeles right at the time that the Israeli Mafia was making the news. I noted it, it was shocking, but I had no idea what it was about. All these years later I found a book with a title that drew me to purchase it. UNFAIR COMPETION-MURDER BY GUNSHOT the title (love the title) was intriguing so I bought it. The author (a lawyer) was involved in the case at the time and brought me into a world I would have known nothing about. Neutrogena was known to me as a beauty product company, I used Neutrogena products and now I was finding out the gruesome inside story. I enjoyed the story thoroughly. I highly recommend this book. It offers more proof that things are not always as they seem!
Author writes like a lawyer instead of like an author, putting the story in good perspective. A little dull, could have been a more exciting story.
This is a really awesome book. Kept me on my toes the entire time. I would recommend reading this.
